You're right of course, Chad, and I loved his geopolitical work. The irony is optional.

My problem is that when the other kids were ringing doorbells and running away, I never learned the "running away" part.

Perhaps the ideal wrist watch for the Pontiff might be the IWC Da Vinci:

[QUOTE=TARDIS;217876]Perhaps the ideal wrist watch for the Pontiff might be the IWC Da Vinci:

Steve, on a serious note, I think it's staggering that some bugger at IWC, or buggers, could think up this perpetual calendar mechanism, and then build it. And have it work. Incredible to my small mind.

That said, I was dismayed to learn that the mechanism will drop a day in lunar phase every 122years. This sort of sloppiness is not acceptable and their defense? They had to gear it to 29.53125 days, not the correct 29.53059 days because of "excessively fine gearing" needed to get it right. Oh and now that I'm started, don't forget it will be useless on 1 March 2100 since we'll be skipping the leap year then. The thing is full of faults!! Bunch of bloody shirkers if you ask me.

If I was the Pope, I'd knock it back on that basis alone. Imagine having to find an IWC jeweller every 12 decades or so.

I have never been that drunk, and finally stopped writing 1999 on checks.
