What does the future hold for the 14060M?

The Submariner ND is my favorite of the Rolex Tool watches - but I realize that that opinion is simply a matter of taste, and that the 14060M is not for everyone. That said, does anyone here have a guess (or, even better, good information) as to whether Rolex will continue to make this great watch, whether they'll change it to a ceramic model or whether they will discontinue it?

Perhaps this has been on the forum before, but I'm looking for up to date info, or just recent opinions. What do you think?

If it wasn't at Basel this year with their complete retail offerings, they're going to stop selling it as stock runs out. They probably stopped manufacturing them last year.

Sooner or later all the "old" style cases will be upgraded to the supercases, so its just a matter of time till its gone for good. But don't worry there are millions of them out there new and used for you to choose from.

I did not realize that if it's not shown at Basel that's it. I never knew that they show their entire line at that show, but I've never been there. Do you think it could emerge later as a redesigned model with a ceramic bezel?

It was at Bazel this year. What happens in April might be a different story. They could easily update it to ceramic. The question is will they?

We'll know next year.

Can I impose on you to make a guess?

I think we'll see a variation of it in ceramic guise but the jury is out on whether Rolex even see's a market for it. I'd do the new Exp1 in 39mm over a base Sub anyway.

The 14060 is my favorite of the tools (maybe excluding the GV if you consider it a tool watch). Especially the 4-line dial. The absence of a cyclops, the clean dial - all are very appealing to me. I think that it will not be at Basel this year at all, and in the next couple years it will be super-cased and 'ceramized'. Not necessarily opposed to that, curious to see what that'll look like.

Rolex may or may not continue production of the 14060M. If they do, it may or may not incorporate the blue Parachrome hairspring, maxi case, and/or upgraded bracelet. Aside from that, its anybody's guess.

I bought my 14060M about 2 months ago. I got it for the same reasons the OP likes his.

That being said, I just got the feeling that Rolex would stop making the 14060M this year and I should get mine ASAP, so I did. I have no educated guess as to why I think this, just a feeling.

If you want a NEW 14060M 4-line watch, you better get them this year because they are going to stop making them soon.

Exactly why I just got mine. Don't know if we're right, but it's well said.

Yeah, I'm probably wrong. I am must of the time.

But, you know, at least I've got a 14060M and I'm the one and only owner.

I also really like my 14060, to me a modern(ish) 5513.
I fear that if it gets the maxi case ceramic treatment, it's lineage of clean simplicity will somehow be broken...

Yeah. Now that you mention it, I can see what you're saying. On all the points you made.

Jeez, I love my ND.

im a simple guy. simple tastes. i like clean lines. i like the lack of a cyclops. i think the best looking rolex is the 14060m followed by the explorer I. I hope they congtinue to make them... but part of me wants them to stop making the 14060m...because then i will have a "classic" thats no longer made!

and p.s. the updated clasp would be a great addition if I could get my hands on one I would...

But thats just me...

It's all about options, why would you limit your options? I say they should keep producing them. Not everyone likes the cyclops, and if you have a bunch of watches in your wear rotation setting the date can be an annoyance.

Yup, I almost never set the date on my date watches, on the 14060 or 1016 no worries...
