Deep Sea Dweller
Hello,
I'm a newbie here soon wanting to buy Deep Sea Dweller. I have noticed bunch of different series such as V, Y, A, M, etc. on these watches and wanted to figure out what they mean or the time frame these watch were made. Also, does it make a difference where it was made? and where and how would i be able to determine where it was made? Please let me know Thanks Greg |

The DSSD came out in 2008 so the only M and V series out there. I do not believe the new random serial numbers are out as of yet. I say that only because my AD ordered one for me and it came in from Rolex on Friday and I got it on Monday and it was a V.

Hi Greg,
I purchased a Deep Sea last week. I absolutely LOVE it. I tried many other models and makers, but once I tried on a Deep Sea I was sold. Mine has a V in the serial number. By the way I like that you called it a Deep Sea Dweller...sounds better than Deep Sea Sea Dweller. |

No it means the clasp was approximately stamped around March 2008

Why would they make a clasp and then leave it hanging around for months before being stamped? On the other hand, why would they stamp a newly made clasp with an earlier code? Surely that makes a mockery of stamping them at all? Can we not conclude it would only be logical to stamp the clasp with the code for the month it was manufactured? Are you saying that this code is just meant to identify date of manufacture of the clasp only? in which case should there not be a seperate code on the bracelet?
Also, it is widely accepted on several watch forums (including this one in many threads) that this code relates to the date of manufacture. What evidence do you have that this is not the case? |

Or, hopefully, it was accurately stamped, albeit approximately around March 2008!
