Opinions on Zenith?

Any thoughts on the brand?

Is this a thriving brand or on the decline? I'm interested in the Defy Xtremes...

Thanks fellas!

Well...I got 6 of them, so i may be a bit prejudiced.

Which Defy Extreme are you interested in ? Reason I ask is my AD just offered me one at a marvelously generous price, but I'm waiting on the pictures. Soon as i get them I can copy them to you with the quote. The dealer is fantastic, and is in CA, so you'll save on sales tax.

I don't have enough wrist for an DE on a bracelet, but I have no problem with a 46mm Defy Classic on rubber strap. I asked for the pic's just to see it.

I think zenith is understated. They make excellent movements, even supplied to numerous brands, but never got the recognition they deserve. Their new elite line is pure classic, and the steel version is very affordable at around 2,2k only.

i think i have caught the Zenith bug lately.

have tried their Striking 10th and New Vintage 1969 last week and OMG, what a beauty!
one of them would be my entry to the Zenith world.. but just not sure which one yet... i think the New Vintage 1969 (with the tri colour sub dials) is winning at the moment.

IMO, definitely an under-rated brand.

It has a great in-house movement in the El Primero which was being supplied to Rolex for their Daytona.

One of the best chronograph movement around.

These Daytonas now fetch a higher price than brand new ones.

I own a 1999 Zenith Rainbow Flyback which is now (finally) fascinating me. Intricate detailing, the El Primero movement, the presentation box it comes in etc. The prices are moving up, finally. I believe they sold originally for $4,300, but can be picked up in beautiful used condition for $3-4K. That's a lot of watch for the $. The europeans understand this watch more than we do here in the US and therefore pay more for them. I believe this watch will climb in value nicely over the for-seeable future. Mine is the black faced version on the stainless bracelet.
