Icon5 Rolex Dial and Hand Customisation

Happy New Year All

I have a Rolex DateJust 1570, the one with the Pie pan dial and after owning this a couple of years I want to customise both the white dial and the silver hands. I intend to give it a sporty look; Red markings, Black hands, and a red second hand like the turnographs.

I also want to replace the lume on the hands and dial. As for a watch of this age it doesn't work.

I've done a bit of research and made a few queries but wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations or had any success with any custom work done on their Rolex.

Cheers.

I've considered it but haven't really done it. However, years ago my first Rolex was a rootbeer. These original versions had faces and bezels that faded dramatically. When I realized how worn out it looked, I had the dial repainted to black and a black bezel installed. This 1973 GMT now belongs to a son, and I'm always impressed at how nice it looks, after all these years.

I also have an old inexpensive GP that I bought with a redone dial. I know the dial is redone, but I can't see anything that gives it away.

The dial work on my GMT was cheap and excellent quality. I've thought about doing something on an old DJ, so I could give it to a daughter. If you aren't going to be reselling this watch, I think it's a neat idea, but you could end up with aftermarket parts and a hard to sell watch. No big deal if it is what you want.

I hope you do it and post before and after pix. Good luck.
