Protecting your (metal) band?

My new-old Sub has a 93150 solid link band and I've held off on wearing it for the reason that not only do I tend to scratch metal bands up, but I literally wear the links down flat by dragging my arm back and forth across my desk all day at work. I guess one solution would be to switch to a NATO strap or a leather band, but I'm surprised there's not some kind of band guard you can buy (anyone remember "Swatch" guards?) to put on a metal band to protect it from idiots like me who can't change their habits. Any suggestions?

Wear your watch on your arm like most folks do and wear long sleeve shirts.

Problem solved!
