JLC Navy Seal
I have been researching a new purchase and am leaning towards the JLC Navy Seal Automatic. I have heard nothing but good things about this particular watch and the brand. I am interested to hear any advice or experience the collective has on this watch and the JLC GMT Diver. Also, does anyone know what the MSRP on this piece is; I have gotten prices from $8,000 to $10,000? Lastly, what is the cost of JLC’s standard service? I appreciate any information.

That watch is on my short list as well. I tried one on the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was 42mm. I tried it on the rubber strap (not the articulated rubber) and it was very comfortable. The quality, from the finishing to the way the ceramic bezel turned, was obvious. I believe the MSRP is $8600. Can't comment on JLC service but I have the Master Compressor chrono2 and couldn't be happier with the watch.

Chris,
Your best bet is to phone the Boutique, because the MSRP is indeed going to vary depending upon whether you get the watch on the leather strap, rubber strap or articulated rubber bracelet. Ref. 2018470, stainless steel/leather. Ref. 2018670, stainless steel/rubber. Ref. 2018770, stainless steel/articulated rubber. JLC Boutique 9490B Brighton Way Beverly Hills, CA 90210 (310) 734-0525 The service center can tell you the service costs. Again, it is not priced the same for a Navy Seals Automatic as it would be a for a Master Control or Alarm piece, for example. Richemont Technical Center 15100 Trinity Blvd. Suite 300 Texas 76155 Fort Worth 1-800-552-4230 Hope that helps!

Thanks for the information. Any idea on the scarcity of this watch? My local AD only has the Alarm model and said he would not be ordering more until after Basel? Will they be in production for 2011 or is it just a 2010 production model?

Since it's limited to 1500 pieces, it may take some calling around for one.

It's a big beautiful chunk of titanium. The only thing preventing me from buying it is the size of my wimpy wrists.

Charlie, how big are your wrists?
Mine are 6.8 inches. 44 mm is really the max that looks good on my wrist BUT Linde Werdelin wears GREAT on my wimpy wrists and is a big watch. For me a lot has to do with the lugs and the clasp, I can't wear a ROO due to their double deployment clasp. It was really a let down when I discovered this BUT luckily their diver uses a regular buckle so perhaps that may be in my future. I am a total junky for chonos and dive watches!

I've heard that the articulated rubber gives one the best of both worlds, with the comfort of a rubber strap and the aesthetic beauty of a bracelet. Plus if you opt to go with the Articulated on the initial purchase, it's much cheaper to add a rubber or Croc strap later.
