Without the use of ultrasonic cleaner, what do you think is the best way to clean the bracelet of your watch? Especially the "inside" of the links (to prevent bracelet stretch.
Yesterday I put some dishwasher soap in a cup added warm water and let the bracelet soak for about a half hour, took it out towel dry, then used a blow dryer to finish it off.
Came out looking great.

I apologize in advance if this subject has already been exhausted, but I have not been able to find the answer. I have seen a lot of people use a toothbrush, shower, and such, but nothing that specifically targets preventing bracelet stretch.

Unfortunately, I do not believe there is anything that can scrub between the inside of link pins other than water molecule vibrating such as an ultrasonic cleaner. A good enough cleaner is $20 which seems a minimal investment for a $5K watch. Most watchmakers will perform for the price of an ultransonic cleaner.

I wanted to buy an ultrasonic cleaner, but I heardthe vibrations are bad for the movement- and I don't mean having the watch inside, just the bracelet with the watch laying on top

Add $50 for a 6111 tool and you've got it solved for a sub-c. Or 20c for a toothpick if you've got lugholes.

You should never put a watch with a movement inside in a ultrasonic cleaner. I use to pull off the movement before I clean it.
If you not can do that, just pull off the bracelet and then clean the head with soap and weater when you clean the bracelet
in the utrasonic cleaner.

There should be a gentle chemical cleaner that with time would dissolve the grime. There is always a way. Not sure if anyone has soaked their watch for a few days in white vinegar or some other type of gentle cleaner inspecting gray gunk on screw pins before and after to see if it removes.

I would definitely remove the bracelet, as I share your concerns about the potential of vibration displacing the oils on bearing surfaces. I do put the head in the cleaner, but only for a few cycles to remove grime that get in the bezel area and other difficult places to get to.

My AD gave me a Cartier cleaning kit when I purchased my Daytona. I tried it out on my other watches and my wife's Rado watches. Lots of "stuff" came out! The brush bristles are much finer and softer than a toothbrush.

Worth a look...

I wash my SS watches/bracelets...cool water & regular liquid hand soap......and I polish SS w/ Brasso, works well for me.

I use Veraet watch cleaner once a week, and remove the bracelet and drop in an ultrasonic about 2-3x/year.
