Why is my clasp different

I have a D serial LV. My clasp does not have the diviers extension clasp that deploys with a gentle pull, you need a spring bar tool to adjust it. However I see watches like this http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=158546 look at the 6th picture down. it is clear there is a traditional deployable divers clasp.

What am I missing?

I'm guessing that someone will be requesting a picture of your watch.

That always is a plus when asking for diagnostics.

Here is a picture of my divers extension (D Serial LV). I also have a 14060M and its very diver extension is very different from my LV. However what really confuses me is when I see other LVs what have a divers extension similar to my 14060M. Any insight?

Mate, I think the LV has the same bracelet as the date Sub' and which is different to the 14060. The wetsuit extension on your LV should have an O / zero which you press to release the extension. The 14060 bracelet has the original "pull out" extension. Sorry, I don't know the various bracelet numbers but I'm sure someone here will.

You push down on the circle and the links pop up and reveal the diver extension. I dont see anything different on your watch. Its the same as normal 16610 subs and 16600 sea-dwellers.

The 14060, 14060m is different in that you dont need to flip up the folded bracelet via the circle button, its just freely folded over.

take another look at the picture guys. notice that the pin is the third hole in from the left. being that its a pin means you cannot pull or press the O to deploy. And I definately do not have the this metal deployed piece that is visible in the 6th picture here http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=158546

the pin does not have to come out. do you have the stamped o on the link?

when the o goes down the link in front pops up. it pivots on the pin.

It would appear that the extension is there and it is still folded under the bracelet. There should be two pins in the pin holes on the side of the clasp. The back one will snap out and the inner one will hold the extension when extended. Push on the "o" and it should pop up and then gently pull the extension out and the back pin should pull free.

sometimes you need to hold down the end of the last link while pushing down on the o at the same time.

Finally!! A reasonable thread asking a reasonable question. I think all of us stumbled a little when first confronted with this type of diver's extension.........I know that I did.

Glad that you were able to get the mechanism figured-out.

HaHa I had the same issue, you are nervous to "force it" out of fear of
breaking it since its new and you had not seen it before.

I had the same with my SD when I got it a couple years back and the dealer
I purchased it through told me when I called him push and pull it will get easier
after a couple times, I said No I tried and I can tell it will break it... He promised to
replace it if it broke and was laughing at me... Sure enough it worked and got easier
(but never easy that it just deploys on its own)!!!

Congrats enjoy and love your Rolex!

Some of them are really tight but once it has moved, the 2nd time is much easier.

When the watch is new, pressing down the link is very difficult, so don't be embarrassed. I took mine to an AD to show me how to do it. His trick was to use the blunt end of a Bic pen and push down on the O. Once you do it several times, it loosens up.
