2002 Submariner

After doing research on my Fathers '73 Red Sub, and all the input that I have received from this website, I started to question whether or not my (I think) 2002 Submariner that my wife purchased for me in 2003. I noticed that below the "6", my watch says 'Swiss' and not 'Swiss Made'. I am also questioning the Warranty. The Serial # starts with A4 and is not stamped. I am posting a picture for your opinions. Thanks for your help

Serial #A indicates late 1998 through 1999.

Means that the dial was replaced during service at one time.

I believe MonBK means 1998 - 1999.....

Service Dial is when a watch is sent in for service and for whatever reason Rolex Service Center (RSC) ends up swapping out the original dial with a service dial - usually annotated by only having the "SWISS" at the bottom.

So they sold you a new 1998 watch in 2003 with a service dial?

Was this watch really sold by an AD?

Why would an AD use white out on a warranty? That's not correct. Did your wife buy from an AD?

Don't know. My wife bought it used from who she thought was a reputable dealer in '03 for $2,800.

Why do they replace the dial during service? It was damaged or something?

I should have said 'Stamped". That's the way the warranty on my 1680 Red Sub is.

Some come just like yours and some come punched but did you check for the serial on the case log and I find odd that the dealer changed the purchase date.

Is that good or bad? Is this watch worth $2,800?

That is not a service dial . rolex's between late 98 thru 99 had the[ swiss ] at the bottom as transition year from tritium to luminova for the dial. That watch is a 1999 watch.
