DSSD incoming to Bangkok

Hello All,

Grahame here from beautiful Thailand (via a lot of other places, but originally the UK). Been on the forum a couple of weeks getting up to speed on the ins and outs of Rolex. Have owned a 16660 in the past which was stolen whilst in the Philippines (this is not intended as any slur on the wonderful people of the Philippines - it is still my favourite country and where I intend to retire).

Looking for a pair of watches for my wife and I for our 5th Anniversary. About to pull the trigger on a DSSD from DavidSW but still waiting for my wife to decide on what model she most likes. Any suggestions? She is currently favouring a 31mm Oyster Perpetual DJ model 178274.

So far I have found this a very useful and enjoyable forum and I am looking forward to Rolex ownership again.

Grahame.

Hey Grahame

Welcome to TRF! Great choice of yours: the DSSD...love mine. The DJ your wife is looking at is lovely...good luck! Which dial combination btw?

She seems to be leaning towards white gold with a purple dial. We tried them on at an AD in Bangkok and she kept coming back to that combo. Prices here are not so competitive. After discount and claiming back VAT, it is still cheaper to buy in the US which is easy for me since I travel there at least 4 times a year.

Another thing, what are the preferences for Roman vs Arabic for the Lady DJ? The one we tried was Roman but I prefer Arabic. Any comments on what is most popular?

BTW Dalip, what PAM's do you own? I have an option to buy a hardly worn PAM087 from a friend in Switzerland for EUR4k.

I have a PAM 183...I don't actually have a submersible which is what you're after in the 87...not sure about pricing on that one either. But looks good in pics. Maybe another member has one and can advise.

In terms of what's most popular on the ladies DJ...not sure..But go for the one your wife wants. If that's Arabic then that's the way to go! I've personally always preferred stick dials...it's what my wife wears. Perhaps stick up some pics of the ones your looking at?
