new explorer vs milgauss vs green dial sub
Please help as i'm torn apart for which watch to get. I'm in the market for a watch with ss bracelet and I've narrowed down to the the new green sub, new larger explorer and a milgauss, eighter gv or white dial. I want an allrounder watch the can pair with jeans as well as formal dressing. Any other opinions are wellcome thanks guys!

Wait for the new explorer. I'm almost positive you won't regret.

Of the three, the Milgauss would be the dressiest. However, the white dialed one has a casual look about it.
You really can't go wrong with any of them. Have you tried any of them on?

I love the SubC, but my favorite color is green. Some don't think it's as well rounded (wear with everything) as say the LN (black) Sub, but I wear it with everything, other than when I wear my 5513.
So, if you love green, go with the LV, otherwise I'd advise the black (LN) Sub as the best all around sports/comfort/go with everything watch. Both the other options are good, but the EXP to me seems just a little plain (just my opinion - others love it for it's simplicity and it's a terrific watch) and smaller. The Milgauss is amazing and great all around watch (probably my next Rolex), but if you only have one ... it comes up slightly short of the Sub (no date, no crown guard), but likely better if you mainly wear suits and dress clothes. These are just my opinions, not meant to reduce the greatness of any of the other Rolex watches in any way. I wish I owned them all. But for me, the SubC LN is likely the best all around watch if you could only have one. Or, if you are like me and love everything green, go with the LV (Incredible Hulk). |

I've owned a GV, and loved it. If you don't mind the weight and thickness get that GV. If you want a lighter piece, get the Explorer

I had the Milgauss first and it is probably still my favorite Rolex. However, the weight, thickness and polished links led me to sell it. The polished links make it look a little dressy for really casual wear (IMHO) which is how I dress 99% of the time but it is really nice with everything else.
I ended up changing it for a Sub-C and I couldn't be happier. Like almost every one of these threads, it's personal choice. EDIT : I should also add that I agree with SS Oyster - if you only intend owning one Rolex I would go for the iconic Sub-C. |

The green sub-c and 39mm explorer was out of stock. So I only tried out the milgauss. I love the weight of the watch! I've use to have an all-rounder rolex and it was the gmt-c tt, loved the bezel n style but couldn't get past wearing the tt bracelet.

I would buy the Milgauss and brush the band and case as a few have done here.

I still do love the style of the gmt-c, but just thinking since there's so much models to choose from I should go for something different.
some may say the best thing about rolex is discreat elegance, I understand but somehow the polished case, bezel and center links of the milgauss just draws me in. |

If you plan for this to be your one and only watch (good luck on that) I would go for the Sub

Get the GV. It has a wonderful mix of modern and classic features that make it unique.

No it's not going to be an everyday watch, It's going to be one of those feel-good day watches. Think I'm leaning more towards the milgauss and the sub-c

IMHO, there’s no sharp boundary between a sporty, casual watch and a watch suitable for more formal wear. You really need two watches. The GV should go well with most venues - well, not working in the yard or playing beach volleyball, LOL. A good, sporty, mechanical or auto with an ETA movement should take care of the rest of your lifestyle. I’ve been looking at this watch, but already have too many watches for every occasion. Good luck. There are a lot of fabulous watches and brands out there. Your choices are admirable.

all comes down to personal preference, but, just to say, the black dial non-GV is my favorite millgauss by far and is probably the most all-arounder of the of the milgauss family.....i think it is a little more special than the new 39 mm explorer and, while i really like the subc-lv, it is not an all-arounder.....

I would go with the SubC. Also if Rolex does release a Explorer II it won't be freely available for some time.
