Can I stand going without a date? A simple test.

Date vs no date comes up a lot, and as I have always wanted a Sub, and am doing my best to save for one, I wonder about this issue.
I love the clean, classic, understated beauty of the ND, but will I miss a date on my watch?
For the next month I will be setting the date on my daily wearer to "1". I started today, and every time I habitually glanced at my watch, it reminded me that "I'm number 1!" and then I remembered as I had purposefully told myself in the morning, "Today is March 28." and then I thought, "Hey, I remembered the date! I really am number 1".
I'll see how a month of all this remembering and self-affirmation goes.

No need to turn this into a long date vs no date thread. I've read plenty of those on here. Just thought it might be a helpful tip to my fellow undecided Sub lovers.

And tomorrow, when you forget the date, your watch will tell you that you are now number 2.

I already set it to 31 this afternoon in anticipation of tomorrow's affirmation and memory testing needs!

Now that I think about it this is very Barney Stinson.
"The date on your watch is wrong."
"What?"
"Today's the 14th. Your date says "1".
"It's not a date window, it's an affirmation window." Wink. "But speaking of dates..."

I went from a Planet Ocean to a Speedmaster Professional, it's been two weeks and I still glance at my watch looking for the date.

In my view...I need my date during the work week. Fridays or weekends, give me my PAM or Speedy! No need to futz with setting the date!!!

I have to say, although I love my Daytona, I really DO miss the date... having it so convenient, (like it was on my GMT). My next Rolex will definitely have a date.

As for me, I don't realize how often I look at the date until I wear my Rolex that doesn't have a date. I don't wear it too often because of this, usually wear my Sub-C.

My weight loss is excellent Bill! thanks for asking. Right now only about 6 ponds to go, and since my boss hasn't lost a pound, I get until the end of the year to lose the rest

The only problem is, since I saw the pics from Basel I am LUSTING after the new Explorer II

Well...maybe you can time your weight loss goal with availability of the EXPY II Orange Crush!

Whenever I wear my 5513, I find myself looking for the date and then having to check my phone. I guess when I wear my SubC LV, I just don't notice myself checking the date that often, but I must be doing it.

I always glance at my watch for the date no matter how many times I had previously done that in the day. Date is important hence I am unsure if I should get the models with no date even though there are some that I like. Also I find it quite bazzare that Daytona doesn't have a date considering its a chrono and at a higher price range. The thing is in most instance time is all around you (you can get ime from many sources other than your watch) but not so much for date lol. It would be frustrating without a date on the watch.

I have the sub date but I had to wear a watch with no date for the past week and it bugged the hell out of me. I could always remember the date, it just angered me when I would look at my watch and not see it. I'd say you'd get used to it though. I like the look of the nd sub better but I do prefer having the date function.

Thats pretty much how I look at it. The weekend is for having fun and no date is needed for having fun.

Personally I love a date for the weekend--hate spending it alone.

Add another 10lbs to the target and see if your boss will go double or nothing so you get the GMT and Expy!!

If you have a mobile phone, you don't need the date!

I know you could say that about the time too but most people only check the date occasionally.

I sometimes stare futily at my Sub in search of a date but it's a rare occurrence and I then just check my phone!

I've realized that constantly changing the date to the self-affirming "1" is going to mess up my experiment because it makes me think about the date too much.
Modified experiment: Now that the date is wrong, I will simply leave it alone, and hopefully in a few days I'll forget about it, look to the watch for the date, realize it won't give me the date, realize I have no idea what the actual date is, and see how I feel about pulling out my mobile, or checking the computer. I think this will give me a more accurate idea.

Will confidently predict that if you are used to having the date on a watch you will miss the date. The good news is humans are very adaptable and after a while you will stop missing it.

Realistically if you couldn't remember a single or double digit number from one minute to the next you would likely have a clinical condition such as Alzheimer's. Much more to do with habit than actual memory.

I thought I would miss the date when I purchased the SS white Daytona. Maybe its because the watch is just that beautiful that I don't mind, but I do not miss the date. I look at my phone in the morning and remember the date all daylong.

Buy a word-a-day calendar and each morning learn the word AND the date!

Not true. I can't tell you how many times I've been on the cell phone talking and needed to know the day...bam! Right there on my wrist without having to ask the other person to wait a sec...other times my hands are really dirty on the job and don't want to handle my mobile with my hands. Date is a serious plus on my daily wearers.

I was concerned about this as well when I bought my Speedy. But I'm not having any problems with no date and no regrets. I wear the Omega quite often including during the week and I find that I don't miss the date.

I just set my chrono hand to the second corresponding to the date and it works great. Next day, I advance it one second and so on.
