Beautiful ticking sound
Hey guys,
I love the ticking sound of my GMT-Master II ticking 5 times a second. It's so soothing, I only wish I could somehow amplify it and record it! Has anyone been able to do that, or maybe point me to a video or sound file online of a ticking movement?

I recorded it and posted it a few weeks back but it hit it's max downloads in the first day and the link went dead.
The file is at work (recording studio) I can grab it monday and re-upload it if you want.

Here's a spectral view of what I recorded:
The "meat" of the room tone rests around 3.5 khz. The "ticking" of the movement sits between 1500 hz and 7khz. And there are harmonics / overtones sitting steady at 700 hz , 9khz and 19khz. Very cool!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes this sound! I love the sound of mechanical watches. Could you please upload the file again, Rolesor? That would be fantastic
How did you actually go about recording this? I take it you need a fairly good mic and a quiet room!? I was researching this a few weeks ago and found some info here - http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...al-watch-sound |

My master bathroom is way overdue for a major remodel and I have a vanity with a fake marble countertop, but when I lay my GMT II down on it's side, I can hear the amplified humming of the movement throughout the entire bathroom...I just love that sound!!! Just brilliant! Reason enough not to remodel???
