COSC Certification

Many of our Rolexes are COSC certified and to most of us, it just means that the watch was tested for accuracy and approved.

I bought a watch that came with a COSC certificate so here are some pics of what a COSC certificate looks like and the kind of
information it contains. Each movement gets a COSC number if approved. Most of the data, I don't even understand what
the information is but it sure looks like a serious document.

I wonder why Rolex does not include a COSC certificate wiht with their watches. Not that it matters but extra paperwork just
looks good.

Rolex used to provide the COSC(by independent Bureaux officiels de contrôle de la marche des montres) with their watches--I have mine from 61 5512 Sub.

I wonder if the reason they are not keen to do it could be that the certificates issue date could have been a good few years prior to you buying your BNIB watch from an AD. I guess it wouldn't bother WIS but I could imagine the people who want a Rolex because it is shiny and expensive might not take it too well!

Terrible how these big companies are nickel and diming the consumer to death....their attitude is "pay up sucker, or get out of the line cause there are plenty more waiting in line..."

This certificate is returned to the mnufacturer for every watch that passes COSC, I am amazed it is not provided to the seller....

This is the copy of the German Din certificate for my Dreadnought watch,A Timefactors watch that cost then just £400 as you can see +0.4 seconds a day,not bad for a so called humble ETA 2824-T2 movement, less than half a second a day and still the same today after several years of hard wearing. Now the DIN standard for Chronometers is to a higher standard the the Swiss COSC.
