Go ahead and do a search and you'll find that gold bracelets don't stretch.

Your father will be fine as long as he cleans his watch.

If the answer was yes that it does stretch...would that preclude you from buying it? It seems rather inconsequential...

Stretch (although an inaccurate term) shouldn't occur on a Day-Date II because of a different construction to the links. Stretch is basically where the bracelet pins wear away the material in hollow links, lengthening the distance each link can move, resulting in the bracelet not being as "tight" any more. As on modern models, the link construction is now solid, the pins can't move about inside the link, so wear, in theory, won't occur. The Day-Date II should have a very long lifespan on the bracelet

Just don't worry about it! Anything on these watches can be fixed/replaced.

On some bracelets there are sacrificial tubes inside the link and this isolates wear to the screws and the tubes.

I disagree, when buying a watch that cost as much as a Honda Accord, you want it to hold up forever... or as close to that as possible...

I don't know where you live, but in the US a Honda Accord doesn't cost $57,000, which is what a platinum DDII runs...

I stand corrected, it cost as much as a Lexus GS460, Mercedes E550, BMW 550i, Audi A6 V8, Jaguar XF, Cadillac STS V8, Porsche Boxter, Infiniti M56... well you get my point... ...

If I could get a platinum DII for 25k I would buy 2 I get the point though

To the OP, I would not worry about it. As menitoned the contruction today should make the lifetime of the bracelet much longer... Besides, this is a bit like worrying about the cost of an oil change when buying a new Mercedes:t hinking: If you can afford the car then who cares

Well I would only buy 2 to flip them both for a 10-20k profit on each
