New member from NI - Hi! Tudor Rangers...

Hello there...I have recently joined the forum because I know next to nothing of Rolexes and want to change this.
I have a small collection of current and vintage watches, my favourite being my Omega Seamaster 2252.50.
I am currently looking at a Tudor Ranger with red print in a jewellers. I came across it by accident. I looked at it in the flesh 6 months ago, and enquired about it again recently over the phone.
Could anyone point me in the right direction for information on this watch, as I find the profusion of information about it totally baffling?!
I have emailed again for the serial numbers.

I have spent more time researching these watches than any other (with the poss exception of the 5513 Maxi!!) and I am confident that the Red Rangers were not produced by Tudor. Also, another tell is the gap between the words OYSTER and DATE.

They are one of the most faked watches, so be very careful!

Welcome to the forum .
I'm inclined to go with what the member above said . So far I have never seen a Red Ranger that was authenticated as being original . My understanding is that Tudor NEVER made a red print ranger . Also, the "white" Tudor ranger is being copied a lot as it is and authentic ones are rare and fetch good money when they are . So I can not see why a owner of an authentic Tudor ranger would over paint the dial to make it a fake .
I would say you are looking (at best) at an authentic Tudor that has a fake dial fitted .

Here is a paragraph from an email from the Jeweller:

''Unfortunately there are no documents with the watch, however, our watchmaker (who spent 5 years working at Rolex) has advised us that all the parts are genuine apart from the strap and buckle. He cannot confirm that these are the original parts (only Tudor can advise this), however, they are all genuine. The watch also comes with a spare Tudor glass.''

Asking £925.00.
In all the confusion of information about this watch, am I right in saying the red print dial may have been a redial by Tudor?

I think I might pass anyway, although it looks like a very nice watch.

Look , except for the case and crown there are not many "Rolex parts" to this watch . It would have been better that the watchmaker was 5 years with Tudor .. that way he might know that this dial is not original Tudor . Also Tudor as Rolex NEVER refinish dials . Damaged dials or dials with tritium lume material would have been replaced from '98/99 with their modern replacement .

Just came today via email:

''One side of the case is stamped:
STAINLESS STEEL
951122
The other side is stamped:
90733.
Once again our watchmaker has suggested that the quality of stamping looks genuine.''

So it seems that the movement is not true Rolex anyway?

The model number 90733 and especially the 3 at the end would refer to a SS/ YG TT model

Notice how the Shield is almost touching the D in Tudor...
Tudor would never let it happen.
