Tech: how can a 1560 or 1570 power a GMT or a Datejust?
i realize that there is an extra hand on a GMT in the stack. how could rolex use 1560 or 1570 movements on both of these models?
just curious... Harry |

The 24 hr hand on the early GMT's were simple synced hands to the main hour hand that turned at exactly half it's speed..
It's just a matter of adding a couple of extra gears to drive an additional hand - and an additional hollow staff to attach the hand to... Probably today they would have re-numbered the movement.
