Prices

Hi all,

New to the thread here and new to the Rolex world. After looking at hundreds of pictures here, I have decided I may purchase the Datejust Model 116200. From an initial search it looks as though the piece retails at about $6,000. Can someone tell me if watch retailers will discount Rolexes or allow any sort of haggling? Obviously I would want the best price. I know many retailers negotiate Omega's... just wondering if it is the same for Rolex's. Also where would be the best place to purchase one? I am in Texas.

Definitely from a trusted seller from here!

Welcome to the forum.

You can look at DavidSW, Mosco, Mastermixer, Justrolexes, etc.

You'll get the best price and service, without a doubt.

I recently bought a new 116000 (in Feb) and a new 14060M yesterday, both from the same AD. We definitely negotiated on the price for the first one, I was so pleased with the deal, I went back for another, never paying full price. So if you want to go and be able to negotiate, be prepared to pay in cash.

For what it's worth, I think smaller AD's are more willing to work with you on price instead of the larger AD chains, etc.

I've never bought from one of the trusted sellers here, but I've PM'd with them and they are very responsive. If I didn't have my existing AD that I've gotten to know more, I would go with one of the Trusted guys here

Welcome to the Forum.

Discounting varies across a million factors. How many expensive watches have you bought from the dealer? If zero, that may be the amount of your discount.

The DJ may be more susceptible to discounting vs. others like the Sub and GMTIIC.

Dealers on this site can sometimes get you 25% off MSRP for BNIB.

If you go to a dealer who sells most of his stock, he has no motivation to give you a discount. You will just have to go in / make them think you will pay cash on the spot...and see what you get.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. May I ask how much you ended up spending on your Datejust? Do you have any pics?

How do I find dealers on this site? Will the piece be under warrantee if I were to purchase here? Its such a large purchase, I wouldn't know if I can trust an online transaction.

Anyone have any info about the Datejust? Seems as though most on this site are more into the Submariner or Daytona. Any pro's/con's over other models. I picked this model because it looks good on a women wrist.

currently, i don't have any pics of the 116000, but the watch is currently on the rolex website (black dial/domed bezel/ orange circles). there's a user rambam who took really beautiful pics of this watch as well (http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=158654) the 116000 is the oyster perpetual model sans date. i ended up getting 13% off and they ordered me a fresh one from rolex because they didn't have the dial i wanted, which was a plus because i didn't want one that was on display.

Spend some time on the site and get to know all the models. You'll also find the trusted sellers and all that jazz.
I understand your being reluctant doing business online, but read all the reviews on these trusted sellers. You have nothing to worry about IF you go with one of them.
