Is it odd that a "D" serial would have rehaut engraved?
While perusing the Rolex counter, I noticed a YG Sub with "old" blue dial & bezel. When I tried it on, I was surprised to see it was a D serial with engraved rehaut? I was under the impression the engraving started later.
At any rate, it's a beautiful watch. Any idea what AD's might discount for this "outdated" model... I really like it |

Discount?
Precious metal watches get discounted because they are slow movers. Doubt much of that discount will be attributed to the D Serial status. |

That doesn't seem right. But perhaps the case was sitting at the Rolex factory for a bit. And they engraved it in error. I dunno. Weird though.

I have a D serial 115234 with engraved rehaut and this was a special order from rolex USA.
I'm just a newbie but from reading some topics in this board, it seems normal for the non-common model of rolex have this engraved rehaut in early serial. My understanding and short story is, rolex makes a bunch of case and not all of them they put movement in it. And when someone/AD has an order for that particular watch, then Rolex would put a movement into it and makes current adjustment like engraved rolex, etc. |

You're right, Speed...
I think this watch has been sitting in their case for 2 years, so yes, slow seller should mean a discount, not because it's a D serial. I am wondering what kind of discount might be realistic of me to expect?
As for the serial number, I just thought it unusual that as a "D", it was engraved. Haven't seen that before... |

Have you purchased watches from this AD before? Hard to say. 10-20%?
Are you going to make an offer? |

I bought 2 Subs from them recently, but no discount on those . I think they should make up for that by giving me a good deal on the 16618, so I might pay them a visit this week!

A Solid gold "D" series Sub that simply didn't sell, I have a feeling that this Sub has been sitting for at least 5 years, time for a service. |

The precious metal models did have the rehaut engraved in the D serials..
It's not an error.

This weekend I saw an engraved rehaut "D" s/n 36mm Datejust in two-tone rose gold/ss with rose gold fluted bezel and jubilee band in a local AD's display case. $9600 MSRP. On sale, $6720.

You will notice a lag in the time sequence when comparing the SS models and TT/YG models just because they sell slower. FWIW. the engraved rehautes starting with F serial TOG's.

April 2005 and end of April 2006.Now these Internet dates are not necessarily when a completed watch was made for sale especially in the gold models only when a case/clasp was appoximately stamped.

Agree with Padi ...IMO, they took a D stamped 18K case (a slow mover) and assembled it after they started engraving the rings. They add the ring during the assembly processs to the older case and there ya go.
