Help with rolex pricing please
Hello to all of the rolex fans and experts.
I have a question that maybe your can help...a local guy which was on Craigslist and which I have not yet met this person , he wants to trade his rolex ss/18k date just for my Omega....my Omega is a Seamaster James Bond 007 Limited Edition, purchased back in 09 , I think iI paid $ 3400 or $ 3600 plus tax , the watch is in 99.99 % new since the watch has not been worn, i have all boxes, warranty cards hang tag and everything that came with the watch.. and according to him the watch is in excellence condition, but he has no box , card or paper the watch is somewhere in mid 80 , but he said he will meet at rolex dealer to verified its authenticity if I am willing to trade ? what do your guys think ? is that watch worth the money ? or worth to trade since the watch is almost 30 yrs old and no box and paper ? Please help....any input will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance KV |

Box and paper mean nothing on an early Datejust.. It is just not in the "collectors choice" category where these things mean something..
An 80's DJ is worth about 1200 to 2200 bucks depending on the condition, so make your decision on what you think your Omega is worth to you (it's not worth what you paid) to decide if the trade is worth it ......

I think a Rolex dealer will charge to open the case and inspect it, so you have to work out who's paying for that.
That Rolex may need a service/overhaul, which would cost $$$, to be factored in. Hundreds of dollars. Beyond that, your Omega sounds like the better end of the deal. And CL is a scarily risky venue I would never, ever consider. |

Check completed listings on ebay for both the Seamaster and the Rolex--if you want a price comparison. A Rolex ss/18kt datejust will go for $1500-3000, depending on age and condition.
Get the model and serial number of the case and the movement of the Rolex. If the watch does not have a model and serial number on the case between the lugs, walk away. |
