do you think that the original

LV will be regarded in the same manner as the red subs are, years from now?

Not all of them, I mean the original ones that were meant to just be an anniversary model for that year alone.

Just curious. I want to buy another Rolex but the only way I can justify it to myself currently is if I buy one I know that will go up in value due to other circumstances I have going on currently.

I love the red subs, but would prefer to buy an original LV and just swap the bezel insert. Plus wearing a red sub every day would cause me to walk around with my arm over my head all day in fear of hitting it.

No, I can't ever see that happening. But I've been wrong two or three other times in my life...

There are a ton of the 16610 LV Subs out there. I don't see the value shooting up like the Red Subs.

See, that's what I figured. Then I kept seeing the original ones go up and up and up since last year and am really second guessing myself.

The only other one I was considering was a Zenith movement Daytona but I'm not too sure about those going up as much as the other two.

I doubt I'll ever see a Daytona go down in price, though. At least not with how I've treated all the non-tool watches I've owned.

Hell, my Tag that I've worn every day for three years has only 3 scratches that are visible.

Rolex watches of today are mass produced. I own an LV sub. M series. I hope it goes up in value like a red sub but it is a real longshot just considering numbers and demand for LV subs as is right now.

If we "knew" what watches would be worth a boat-load in a few years, that's the one we all would have...

Since there is no real difference from the early LV's to the later ones, it is unlikely that most collectors will ever pay a significant premium for one..

If they did, there would be a huge increase in black-market conversions..

The only LV that sells for a premium is the 2003 Y and early F with Mark1 dial and flat 4 bezel insert.

Which was essentially what I meant to refer to.

I think the red sub would be my best bet but I like having strong lume on all of my watches

There is a Y just listed on another forum fro $8000. It would be interesting to know what it sells for.

I doubt it will sell at that price but who knows...

I've noticed that the TT Zenith Daytonas are CONSIDERABLY less than the stainless on some websites and from grey dealers. I'm guessing that they probably won't go up in value as much as the all stainless ones, though..

I'm guessing I'm going to be "stuck" getting a red sub and having to deal with the lume.

Sounds like buying a Rolex really shouldn't be on your radar right now.

Maybe so. A couple business opportunities may arise in 3-4 years so an extra $8-10K that I won't have to take from actual investments might help.

I doubt it'll come through, though, so I'm probably going to buy a new watch.
