I agree...I'm "only" 37 years old, and just got my first two Rolex not long ago. It's actually the big change in style that prompted me to buy the "old" style models right away..NOW, while I can still get them in brand new shape. Just picked up the 36mm Explorer not long ago, and then just over a month ago the 14060M followed. Call me a "Curmudgeon"..but I don't like the "New way". That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

Paul, this sounds like a cry for help. Are you throwing in the towel? Come on Paul stand up, be a man.

Besides I think Jocke's just getting warmed up.

JJ, glad to see you posting more.

I think there are advantages to both old and new. Don't know much about the older ones, however looking forward to finding out with my latest one incoming by the end of the week.

I do love the classics........

Especially the coke & pesi GMTs.
But when it comes to the SubC that's another story....
For me, I don't think I'll ever buy another classic Sub since owning the newer model......different strokes for different folks.
Good to see you back JJ!!

I like both styles, but would take old style over new if forced to choose. Luckily I don't have to choose.

Well said JJ. Great to hear from you my friend.

Though the modern references have some advantage (bracelet/clasp), overall I prefer the old style myself.

JJ is right on again. For me the only current Rolexes(updated) I care for are the Daytona and the TOG.

Great to see you posting, JJ!

Well, I`m leaning toward older models.
And the reason is simple - in my heart, nothing can replace the things that I`m grow up with.
I started to love Rolex watches when I was 13 or 14 years old, and I remember well how Sub looked like, how GMT Pepsi looked like...and now I see that new design, with more squarish lugs, and watches that grows bigger and bigger (I mean, I always liked Day-Date because it`s essentially not a big watch, so it`s kinda understated among all those Breitlings and Audemars Piguets...and now we have DD II, tremendous watch, but...)...and what to say about DSSD, fantastic watch in it`s own right, but it`s Rolex on some other`s territory IMHO.
So, I really have nothing against new models, heck, I would go for GMT IIc and aforementioned Day-Date II in a heartbeat, it`s just that I simply like the old style better, and reasons for it are deeply emotional!

Honestly, my friend, the only bribe I can accept now would have to be the BEST one - a total restoration of my good old health!!

Great post, Good to see you JJ!

I love my new 116610 Submariner, The ceramic bezel is beautiful and the new band is solid! I was never crazy about lug holes, plastic crystals or the way the old hollow bands feel after they get worn in.
