How Long?(datejust question)
Does it take for your seconds hand to start to sweep after you start winding? It took so long today that I thought my watch was dead? Think I need a service? I wound my DJ and GMTII at the same time and my GMTII started right after about 40 turns but the DJ took quite a while after I had stopped winding to start sweeping?

Hmm interesting question. By the time I pick mine up and unscrew the crown, its already running just from the motion of me picking it up. Am I missing something in your question?

That does not sound healthy, I would expect both watches to start sweeping before you have completed your 40 turns. The 40 turns is used to wind it up to max reserve but it should start to move before. I would be extremely concerned that the movement did not commence on the DJ whilst winding. All my models commence sweeping before I have completed 40 turns. IMHO due a service.

Since BOTH took a while to start...are you sure you're counting FULL rotations of the crown? Each time I turn the crown, it only goes about half way around.
In which case, what you're seeing might be quite normal.

Okay that is a good point, Yes I would say it is maybe twenty rotations then..........but Still with my brietlings and omega they start as soon as I start winding, my Dj took at least 5 full seconds after (I said 40) maybe its closer to 20 full rotations. And the GMTII started to sweep just before I completed the Twenty. I guess I might need a service.

It's nothing wrong with your watch and it's normal Rolex behaviour.

There is likely nothing wrong with your watch.. It is a machine with torque stresses, gears, ratchets, wheels, springs, and cogs that all have to be in the proper position before it starts.... They don't always align right off the bat, but a simple flick of the wrist will relieve the torque stress and it's off and running...
