Shipping a Rolex into the US from Switzerland

OK
Thinking of working out a trade with a collector in Switzerland
where I will be get a Rolex (80's model) complete set and some
spare parts.
Whats the best way to get it shipped in?
Possibly was thinking repair being returned to customer?
Anyone have any advice or suggestions?
Please let me know before I dive in head first.

Thanks!
J

Shipping a Rolex into the US is problematic and restricted by US Customs. It is nearly impossible for ordinary citizens to do it legally. Do your homework and thoroughly research the steps. IMHO, I would avoid such transactions. Last time I tried, the watch was stopped in Customs and returned to the shipper in Canada.

Had a watch shipped from Switzerland to the US back in 2007..
Customs held it until i paid an import tax on it. The cost for import pretty much negated the discount i purchased it for. It wasn't a Rolex, but from precious posts on this site.. it doesn't look promising.

Good luck

Don't do it. The chance of you getting the watch is next zero.

Custome could confiscate it and bye bye Rolex. Don't do it.

If you decide to take a chance... do not write "ROLEX WRIST WATCH" in the item description on the customs forms...

Instead, write "horological device" or "precision instrument."
