Questions for those from Tampa?
Can anyone tell me of a good restaurant in the area near the airport? I am flying in to tampa for the start of a vacation soon and have some time to kill in Tampa so a nice casual restaurant in the airport area would be nice thanks.

The International Mall is right there by the airport. The mall has everything from a food court, to casual restaurants, to upscale... so you have a lot of choices & very convenient to the airport

I agree on International Mall. My favorite spot, Capital Grille. That location is the place I went to right after I picked up my YG Daytona from the Tampa AD.

The Tampa Bay area is great... but things can be a little spread out so the International Mall area gives you your best bet for a few hours. If you have a day or two I'd definitely point you in some other directions. |

I don't think my fiance would like the Mons Venus to much I think we will go to the mall we will have like two or three hours to kill so a meal and a little walking around should do that.

Charlie's! One of the best steak houses in the nation.

Doesn't hold a candle to berns. There is a roys, Flemings, and lee Roy sermons right across the street from the mall. My choice would be roys, it's a hawaiin Asian fusion restaurant and their deserts are awesome. Try the pineapple upside down cake or the chocolate souffle. But order it before dinner, they run out very quickly. Also probably some of the best fish in the area. Tell Rob Snow that Dan sent you and he shouldngive youna good treat. If he remembers me from many years ago. He is the joint venture partner there.

Bern's is superior on wine, dessert, and atmosphere hands down. Charlie's steaks I found to be better. The place lacks that upscale charm, but if you are going for beef, I'd pick Charlie's. Edit: and Charlies is close to the airport!

Way back in the day, Bern's was the only real game in town... just one of maybe 3 nice restaurants in the area. Over the last 15 years or so the dining options have improved greatly in the area. But I think Bern's really fell off in terms of quality. The experience of eating there is still very cool... getting a tour of the kitchen and wine cellar is a must, but the last couple of times I thought the food has been subpar. For whatever reason, I've never been a big fan of Charlies, but I know many who are. Roy's is outstanding. It was one of my top 3 favorites in the area a few years ago before I moved to NYC.
