Deepsea Lume question

He was an owner, and a sloooooooooooooooow seller. :) But it's not uncommon to get 10-15% off on a DeepSea. Subs are harder, though still doable. For example, an AD I spoke to would go 8500 on a DS (when they were $9800), but the Sub was full price. You might have done slightly better but now more than ever, people are paying close to list on SS sport models. And now that list is $10,600, your almost 11k outlay isn't quite as bad as it was before the hike. Enjoy the watch, it's a great one.

my deepsea have superb lume, but its not that it will glow all night like a torch, but the the time can be seen.

Lume was never intended to burn all night long. The entire point of lume is to illuminate the markers on demand. Standard equipment when SCUBA diving is a flashlight. When you want to check your gauges, you use your flashlight and charge up whichever gauge you want to check in the moment. You don't want it to burn like a torch while diving (it's a distraction), but since that is what the average civilian (who doesn't use the watch diving) wants to see, watchmakers cater to the least common denominator.

If dragon breath fire lume is what you are after, then there are other watchmakers who can fit the bill better. LUM-TEC, or Pam will fit the bill. So will a Timex Indiglo!

Or you could always have your dial, hands and pearl relumed. But as already mentioned, superluminova has certain properties that are inherent to the material itself, so you'll only get so far even with a relume.

I would say the lume on mine is green and its a MK II dial

The alturnative is tritium tubes which do not need a light source. They aren't quite as bright, but will last 10 years plus. Check out the Ball Spacemaster for a good example. For me it wasn't a "deal breaker" though, that the Deep Sea uses lume instead. The Deep Sea is an awesome watch. Just enjoy it for what it is.

My DSSD or SubC lume last all night. I'm sorry to say, but it might be your night vision.

If you are not happy with your watch, take it back to the AD.

Charge the lume underneath a nice bright light!

Use a surefire flashlight. 3 min under a surefire and you will be good to go for years.

My Sub-C has pretty much the same dial as your DS, and I find it to be pretty good. It's very bright after charging, and I can easily read it any time throughout the night, or, towards the end of a movie in a theatre for instance, no trouble at all. I don't even charge it before bed, and it's still readable 6-8 hours later.

I do have a Panerai, and it does have great lume, but honestly, I am finding the lume on the Sub to work pretty much just as well. The Pam does seem brighter just after charging, but as for lasting a long time, they seem pretty equal.
