Wanted to share a 30+ year Day Date YG

Hi everyone. I'm new to writing in the forum but have been a fan of the forum for some time.

This is a yellow gold Day Date that my father passed down to me a few years ago. I normally wear my sub c tt as a daily but this is my special once a week watch. I might take it out twice a week tops. It holds a lot of sentimental value to me.

What is interesting about this is that the bracelet has the non traditional presidential look to it. I asked my father as to why and he told me that back then that was the bracelet you got with the watch.

Anyways, hope y'all have a great Friday.

awesome pics, thanks for sharing. I think its even better that you can wear your father's watch while he's still here to talk about it

Very special to have your dad's watch.

I've seen the president band with that clasp before.

Nice watch, congrats. it looks like one from the early 60's. If you ever look at pictures of LBJ he wore one with the presidential band without the hidden clasp.

That's a good story. Some day I will give my watches to my son. I hope he appreciates them just like you do.

I like that the day is in Spanish. I used to own a Seiko many years ago that had the day in Spanish.

That's nice ! Cool linen dial and Spanish day wheel. The earlier pres bracelets did come with the flipflock clasp versus the hidden.

Enjoy that beauty !

:)

Thanks for the heartfelt comments guys!

Yes, this is a very special watch for me. Prior to my father giving it to me I had only worn it two times. Once for my high school graduation and once for my college graduation. The watch became my graduation gift for my MBA and my father told me that I had finally earned it. This watch reminds me of my father and the success he has had over his life and is a constant reminder to me when I look at it that to achieve great things one must work really hard.

Both my father and I are big watch enthusiasts because he owned a jewelry store for over 40 years and I worked there when I was a little kid. Even though we don't have the store anymore we still have a passion for great time pieces. Another cool thing is my dad was there with me when I purchased my first Rolex which was a nice moment to share with him.

Once again thanks for the great comments everyone!

Wish y'all a happy Saturday!

Welcome and congrats on those two beauties. I love the dial and the calendar wheel in Spanish on that DD.
