And I'm in agreement with most of you...I was pretty shocked that it had happened too!

In this case, I'm also pretty sure that it was not anything I had done incorrectly.

I've known this to happen before. Happens with rubber straps too. Milsubs used the NATO because of the fixed bars, not because, I suspect, the strap was more secure than a bracelet.

It is more secure than the bracelet. He didn't lose the watch did he?? If the spring bar would have failed while wearing the watch on a bracelet, it would have hit the floor/been lost to the abyss of the ocean.

It could be argued that there is not the lateral forces applied to the bar while on bracelet like there is on a NATO, but I still feel that I would like the odds of a double springbar failure simultaneously to lose a watch, rather than a single failure.

Thanks for the alert, and for the pictures. This just goes to show that even when you do everything right..........things still can happen.

Amen!

I swam just a few hours ago with the same strap and spring bars. It hasn't done any damage to my belief in the security of the NATO. But I'm more aware of what COULD happen!
