I know...I know.
Last week I picked up an Exp II R 16550 it was running fine but I still wanted to have it checked out at an AD since I was sketchy on its service history.
Of course, the AD says it needs to be serviced...which I knew. But man I just bought it! So it's gone and in 6-8 weeks it will return I know it will be as good as new and flawless still it was so hard to let it go.

It is hard to let these babies go but the six weeks are going to pass anyways and at the end you will have a watch that will look brand new.

I experienced the same thing with a pre-owned piece I recently purchased. At least in the meantime you have another to wear I imagine. Hey it is yours, and it will be back looking and working like new once it gets back from the SPA.

Worth it in the long run to have it serviced.

Hopefully the turn around will be a little quicker for you Michael!!
It'll also be interesting to hear about the hands and dial questions.

It always feels like a life time - hang in there.
I still do not understand why watch service centres cannot adopt the same booking system as car service centers, so you can drop it off the day they can start their work on it.... How hard can it be?

Six to eight weeks is a long time to wait for anything. It's like putting time on hold, right? What are you wearing now?

The guy at the AD said the dial is good but everyone agrees the hands are new which is somewhat off putting since the second hand has patina matching the dial therefore the original minute, hour, and GMT hand must have had patina as well but they have been replaced.

I'll probably just go back to my normal rotation Sea-Dweller, GMT, Explorer, Sub, Bremont's thrown in here and there...poor me right.
