Opinions of 1994 GMT Master II

I have decided that the two tone, black face, GMT Master II is the Rolex for me.
I have found, at Bernardwatch.com, a 1994 model 16713 for $4890.
It is considerably less expensive than the newer models I see for sale.
What are your opinions on the older model and this model in particular at this price?

thanks

You get what you pay for, the bracelet on the 16713 is much lighter. That said, it is still a great watch, & a good value.

This is one of my favorite watches.. With any used model, condition is paramount.. This is especially true of the gold and Two Tone models as the bracelet replacement cost is more than the watch is generally worth.. this makes it imperative that the bracelet be checked over for cracks in the center links or any other obvious damage..

The price is typical for a big Dealer.. The dial should also be checked and hands for deterioration of the tritium, but this is secondary to the bracelet as dials and hands are only a few hundred to replaced, bracelets are several thousand...

One of mine..

I have a SS GMT-Master II Ref. 16710. When shopping for this watch I found that if I bought one manufactured in 2000 or newer, it would include the solid end links and the Super-Luminova luminous hands and markers. I didn't pay much more than if had bought a mid 90's model, but these two upgrades were worth it in my opinion. The two tone GMT-Master II black dial is a stunning watch, as is the two-tone black dial Submariner. Lovely watch Larry, thanks for the inspection tips.

Great watch. Jubilee? My first Rolex was a tt GMT (not II) on a jubilee. Might be the prettiest tt that Rolex makes. It will last a lifetime.

I would expect to pay $4,500 for tt Sub or GMT, these days. However, 1994 is fairly new. My 1991 no-date Sub has almost completely defunct lume, and your GMT could, too.
