Has Anyone Noticed?

...That there are a lot of Exp II available in the for sale section.

Are people trying to move their old Exp II to make room for the new Exp II?

Are there just a lot available in general or do sales increase before a new model comes out.

I believe so.....also they might take a huge hit once the new one comes out and they do not sell beforehand.

Exp II always under loved. I still don't get it. I did pick the 1675 over 1655 30 odd years ago. Today I think I would pick the new 42mm Exp over the GMT c. But they are both different watches today compared to their 70s counterparts.

What was the last modern Rolex model that took a huge hit when a new version came out? Even the unpopular 36mm EXP rose in price.

As for the OP's observation. There was a deluge of LV classics for sale before the ceramic Subs came out, no idea why, but it was true. In fact, for about two month after the ceramics came out, another deluge of LVs hit the for sale section. Either way, they sell and sell well. Exp II 16570 prices will rise 3 months after the EXP 42 arrives, bank on that.

I agree that more of this model will go on sale. On the brighter side, first timers will be able to buy their Rolex - an vintage explorer II at an affordable price. Explorer in its new avatar will cost more and for all that I know may have a wait period!

My Exp II is on sale, but it's to fund a grail not to abdicate to a newer version that nobodies even held yet

IMO the 16570 is one hell of a watch & once the must-have clamour dies down the updated model will have it's work cut out to beat it .

Did I sound like a curmudgeon there?

I agree I just bought a 16550 and I lost all interest in the new Exp II once it landed on my wrist.

I do love the big orange hand though.

I am not so certain the EXP II will rise in value... It has never been too popular of a watch in Rolex line IMO, what do I know but I am thinking it will remain soft and cannot be compared to the SD or 16610 LV... just my .02

This might be a good thing for me because I though and told my wife that if I get a datejust I will not want of need anymore watches ( I have 4 others but all of them together cost as much as my rolex) but now I am saving (secretly ) for my next rolex and I love the explorer 2 in 40mm and think the 42mm would be too big on my skinny wrist..
I was almost 100% positive to exp2 was going to be my next watch but the longer I hang out here the more I want a sub instead..

The Expy II is the perfect stealth Rolex for travel. I think that will no longer be the case when it is updated to 42mm.
