I have run a 2:27 marathon in running flats and have 5 members of my running team who run in the 2:19 - 2:23 range. We all wear runnning shoes! As I have said before name ONE elite runner who trains in these barefoot running shoes. There isn't one elite runner I can think of. Again this is a craze that was started by the Book Born to Run. It doesn't mean it is actually a good way to go in terms of foot gear for running. It is a fad and it is making a ton of money for the barefoot running shoe companies. But is is causing a crazy amount of injuries and there isn't one study that has shown that barefoot running is beneficial.
I have not seen any studies showing that is is beneficial either.

I have a pair of KSO leather and use them as casual shoes at times when going out but don't wear them much. Cannot imagine running in them, not my type of runners. Asics Kayano on the other hand

I agree with the guys on stress fracture. I don't agree with the concept of barefoot running or running with shoes like VFF.
