Services at an AD

Hello Everyone,

So my wife’s lovely TT Everose Datejust has been running fast lately. I set the time to match my GMT and I noticed that the DJ was 5 minutes ahead after around 2 weeks.

Fortunately, the DJ is still under warranty and I’m planning to bring it in to my local AD for servicing.

My question is what service should I ask the AD to perform on the DJ? I don’t think it needs a full blown “everything on the menu” service since the watch is less than 2 years old.

Also, does anyone know how the DJ ended up running faster than my GMT? We bought both watches at the same time.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Best regards,

Rick

Just a timing regulation is all that's needed Rick.
As long as the AD has an inhouse watchmaker, they should be able to perform the task while you wait.

x2

All it needs is a simple regulation.

Services at RSC

Thanks for the responses Rob and Mr. Bill. I realized I should have said "RSC" instead of "AD" in the title of my post since I went to a Rolex Service Center (not to an Authorized Distributor) to get the DJ serviced.

By the way, the folks at the RSC said my watch was running 15 seconds fast and that it would take a week to service the watch since it would have to be taken apart and undergo testing. I told them that isn't possible since the guys at TRF said it would only take them a few minutes! Anyway, the DJ is is now with them for a week or so.

Here's a picture of the RSC. There were no service attendants when I walked in, only a guard who gave me a # even though there was only one other customer in the store. A service attendant came out after a few minutes or so. Rather nice and comfy place but, needless to say, there was no WiFi access. Lots of cool Rolex & Tudor stuff to look at at though.

Best regards, Rick

It only takes a few minutes to actually "regulate" the watch..

However, to do it properly, a good watchmaker will keep it for a week and check it in all positions, regulate it, then watch it in different positions for a couple of days; finally doing any tweaking before calling the job properly done..

If you actually know, and have tested the performance, you could walk in and say that your watch is "such and such fast/slow" and a watchmaker could make custom adjustments to your wearing habits...

Nice PIC, too bad you couldn't get a PIC of whats going on in the back.

Sounds as though they are hooking you up, and when you get it back you should be good to go.

I agree just a regulation... I have had this done at an AD as well in about 30 minutes while I waited

It will be perfect once you get her back, she is @ the right place

Hopefully it’s just the case of a regulation. 20 seconds a day problem is a big problem for Rolex. You did it right Rick. The RSC will determine the problem and fix it. Give them a week and you should be fine. If the watch is under warranty don't let any AD to go inside your Rolex.
