Taking that 1st step into what I know will be a long wonderful expensive journey
Hello everyone, I believe this is my 1st post in the vintage section.
Basically I am looking into a quality Red Sub, Of course Id like a minty. Who wouldn't. There have been a few websites I have found that I have begun reading to educate myself. Obviously there is much to learn. I sis start a thread here to speak of what I wanted and what I was looking for. http://www.rolexforums.com/newthread...newthread&f=32 I have time and had some very kind words and was pointed to this vintage group of folks. I will be taking my time as I want that perfect red sub. This month was "bonus" month and Id like to explore all options before I just run off and purchase new. Any advice or tips or if any of you are selling or know of one for sale I sure would like to learn more about it. Thank you in advance |

Welcome to the vintage section of TRF. The group of guys here are the best around IMO. I am glad to see a thread that states what you want to do and not something you already did and then asking us if you made the right move. With vintage watches it is important to know what to look for, what you want and where to find it. I would suggest researching the red sub and find out which variation you prefer and which excellent example is within your budget.
here are two must go to sites for Red anything. Mark's http://rolex.watchprosite.com/show-n...ost/ti-649166/ Ed's http://doubleredseadweller.com/ Here is a list of sellers: Make sure you are comfortable with the seller as this is often more important than the watch itself. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=180461 |

Eric has amazing watches. Truly as described (or in my case even better than described!)
Real treasures. I got my '66 5512 from him in beautiful almost new condition!!! I am a newbie to Rolex as well, but when I sent the watch to Bob Ridley (http://www.watchmakers.com) for service, he was really impressed with the condition of the watch. |

I am also glad to see you asked for assistance here first instead of after the fact. I purchased my Red Sub from Eric as well, and I am very happy with the results as well. As you start narrowing it down don't be shy as people here are always willing to work with you, but they can't do anything for you after the fact. Have a look around here as there is a lot of good info in a number of these threads in the vintage section. Good luck with your hunt. Rememeber Buy the Seller and Condition is King.

Welcome mate, you couldn't go wrong with the lovely people here. I too got my first 1680 birth year red a little while ago and without the friendly and knowledgeable people here it wouldn't be possible to get one in an original and awesome condition without me possibly getting ripped off elsewhere. Since you have already squared down on the reference you like that's half the job done:), looking forward to seeing your watch.
PS: The link you posted in your first post doesn't seem to work. |
