Time and gold Vancouver
Hi all I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Time and Gold in downtown Vancouver? They aren't an AD but have a watchmaker in house and will do basic work on rolex. I need an insurance appraisal but because the watch was purchased used any of the AD's want to send it to rolex for authentication. Time and Gold told me they are able to do this locally and have my watch back to me MUCH faster.
Just looking to see if anyone has had any experience with them good or bad, and if I should trust them to open my baby. Thanks |

I have used Time & Gold (on Georgia) to purchase a Breitling and also service my wife's Lady Datejust President I purchased new in 1992. They claim they have a Rolex trained watch mechanic on staff. It took about three weeks for service. The only complaint I have is that it "inherited" a white speck of dust laying on the dial (my wife's Rolex has a Red Vignette diamond dial - a very dark color which shows everything). I suppose I could get this removed under the one year warranty they give with the service. All in all, her watch is working fine after the servicing.
You might also try Brinkhaus, as they have a Rolex trained watch mechanic on staff, also. Get some price quotes on the service and take if from there. Insist they use genuine Rolex replacement parts - usually just oil, gaskets and seals for a standard overhaul. J. Alan |

If you're just looking for an appraisal, (even servicing) I'd suggest The German Watchmaker (Norbert) on Homer. I had mine appraised in under 30 minutes, right on the spot.

I've use Time and Gold to service a couple of my watches, including my Oyster Date. Took just over 2 weeks, came with a 1 year warranty and was nicely polished looking like new (they also gave back parts and seals that were replaced in the service). Overall I was happy with the service.

What makes you think a basic rolex movement is so special or different than any other chronometer or harder for a watchmaker to work on?
