With all due respect you are now contradicting yourself. One minute you're stating quite openly that they sell for below MSRP and now you are saying WHEN you get the call one MIGHT get a discount. As i said previously, you making sweeping statements that THEY ARE below MSRP is totally inaccurate. Just because 1 person gets a discount does not mean everyone gets a discount.

I'm not contridicting myself at all, if however you feel my "sweeping" statement was misleading then for that I apologize. I don't see it that way however, as I'm not very special and I've been offered discounts since my purchase, so I'll leave it that

Don't get me wrong I totally believe they can be had at a discount my man. I paid less than MSRP. What I am commenting on are sweeping statements indicating that this is the norm thus giving the OP or somebody else the impression that they are in fact overpaying for the watch. When inreality said watch can sell above it's MSRP in 99.999999% of occasions.

Tokyo market shows 116250 White dials about $500 cheaper than Black. 16250 has varying differences depending on the Serials. P & A are dearer than all others.

Rolex Japan will swap dials for you for $1100.00

Gentlemen, I think the overall intention here is to assist our Rolex siblings get a Daytona either at MSRP or a little lower.......try Bhindhi Jewelers in Cerritos, CA.
Ask for Ron.....he is a true gentlemen and always is accommodating. He may not give you a discount right off the bat of your first Daytona....but as you stated you have a budget of 100 Daytonas.....I bet you he'll certainly give you a discount off your 2nd and 3rd Daytona........ He has about 5 in stock today.....that is if I don't pick up a set myself!. Good Luck.

Tphan, mate that's very interesting. In Japan the Black Daytona rules. Personally I like the white too, but due to the market trens I got the black 116250 in Feb 2008 as my fist Daytona.

Picking up a Z series white SS Daytona on Monday 16th. Paying $9900 for it with a 10 year warranty and 1 free service within that period.

It seems January 2009 was the bottom of the market for Daytona's. From February the prices are on the rise, albeit, very slowly.

Of all the Rolexes on the market, the Daytona's are the first to show any sign of price increase or recovery. All others are stable at a lower price than mid 2008.

Cheers from Tokyo

Very much the case in Japan too.

Black could be around $1000 to $1250 more than white. From what the mags say, 80% of all Daytona's sold in Japan are Black dial.

Perhaps the orientals like the black dial collectively or it must be some good luck omen.

Cheers from Tokyo

i'm not to sure about black dials being more auspicious but at least in India for a fact, and probably many Asian countries white is worn during funerals....and its very inauspicious to have white, hence the lack of white cars in singapore atleast...lol, its a far stretch...but alot of people are superstitious......

i wonder what the difference in dials say about differences in personality???

All financial markets are cyclical, repetitive, and predictable. Fast up, fast down, and history generally repeats. Give it 12-18 months and you should be paying $6500 or so. The deep sea has a head start!!

Yeah, and no one knew real estate would be down 25-50 % either. really, the 6500 is 2-3 years ago price, the same time rolex decided to play the real estate increase game with their own prices. Only time will tell.

I just bought the TT Daytona. I would love to have the SS in the near future. My DA show it to me, a series V, and it's a white dial at MRSP. Eventhough, my current TT Daytona is a white dial, I still like the SS Daytona with a white dial and I'm Asian living in the US. Cash is king, so I'll wait out a little!

It seems to depend where you are from. Asia seems to like the black dial ones.
Value seems to be similar. Just get which one you like best.

I'm very curious..can you elaborate on that? Do you mean in cantonese or chinese?

I thought black in cantonese pronouned as 'hug' meaning unlucky.
