Icon9 End broken? link in Oyster Perpetual womens (pix)

Hey all. I am new here.

*I have a vintage oyster perpetual in rose gold.
*no idea what year.
*I took it to a jeweler today and he told me the link is broken and missing something, and is thus broken/unfixable.
*however, to me, it looks like the side piece is just widened, and it can be fixed.
*if i am missing something, does anyone know what it is and where i can get it?

OR Am I right? and it is fixable, so should i take it to rolex or a more competent jeweler?

thanks!

There are some jewelers who specialize in fixing bracelets. It looks like you have all the pieces correct? center link and two sides with the rivet ends? Its a very nice watch indeed.

That bracelet is irreplaceable. You need to get hold of a good manufacturing jeweler who has the capability (and talent) to laser weld the parts together and refinish the weld..

It's not much different than welding a broken tennis bracelet, resizing a ring, or other piece jewelry but it might take some looking to find a good repair shop..

thanks for the responses. it does seem like i have all the parts. and i don't think anything is actually broken...but the one side became loose, or the gap widened...

man. i am in Los Angeles, where am i gonna find somewhere that can weld it o_O i will be in hong kong too...i guess i will try google =S

i can always change out the whole bracelet too right? but it wouldn't look as good =/

Just did a search an it appears to be a very rare model circa 1938. And very rare indeed
.ref # 3869 ROLEX Bubbleback called so for its caseback. Good luck on the fix I hope you find a good watchmaker. Hope this helps some.

Gorgeous old watch. I agree - hope you can preserve that cool bracelet - it's such a part of the watch's personality. And a good jeweler, preferably one who knows Rolex, would be a good place to start asking about a repair.

hey all. just wanted to do an update. i did end up finding a jeweler/watch repair thru yelp (http://www.yelp.com/biz/sams-jewelry...rs-los-angeles) who fixed it for $50!!! he said it was missing a spring or something, and wasn't able to make the link stretchy. but it's all intact now!

yay =)
