The auction value of the trucks, buildings, and raw materials.

Rolex needs to be 100% focused on building the value of the brand. They have nothing else of value. They can no longer sell a chronometer as "superlative", when it is objectively inferior to a $100 digital chronometer.

With a duty to maximize value to the equity holders, Rolex needs to make up for their past inattention and accelerate the move to controlled sales environments (boutiques) and step up their price increases, along with narrowing the model line a bit to reduce the number of models offered. This would maximize the value of the brand.

The .05% of buyers who know the model number of their watch won't appreciate it, but the equity holders of Rolex will. If they are too timid in advancing the brand through controlled sales environment and price increases, they are leaving money on the table.

That's exactly right.

Torches in dry-storage and pitchfork always honed!

If there's even a sniff of a ceramic 114060m at Basel there'll be hell to pay!

Most brands will inherently try to appeal to as many target groups as they possibly can...

Rolex is no different. I would argue that not only does it have a split personality, but multiple personalities- as it should.
