Something is up with my Daytona
Got it out of my bank safe yesterday, wound it more than 50 times and it stopped working after a while. Wound it several times, but it would just stop working after a few hours. Am I screwed badly this time? It's out of warranty, and I heard it's quite expensive to service a Daytona?

Unscrew the crown and run the hands back and forth a few full cycles each way, as if you were re-setting the time.
Sometimes sitting will allow some lubricant to congeal on a gear; working the mechanism will redistribute it. How long was it in the safe?

It's there for about 2 months, but the last time I wore it was almost 1 year ago. I will try that. Thank you.

That's a long time for it to sit.
Work the mechanism and let us know how it turns out. Good luck!

Glad to hear it is running. Imagine how happy your car would be to sit for a year without running.
Despite what I have heard and scene from time to time, I believe the watch winders do provide a valuable service, even the cheap ones! Whole lot less expensive and time consuming than Rolex services. |
