Any complaints with Uverse?

Thinking about switching over to Uverse TV/Internet/Telephone.

I'm adding another TV to the house (2 now) and want HD and DVR on them all. They seem cheaper for that than Dish. Also, their internet speeds seem great and their telephone is cheaper than what I currently have.

Right now I have Dish/DSL/Land line and am happy. I hate dealing with headaches with billilng, etc. So...does anyone have problems with Uverse?

TIA.

My only complaint with them was they wanted to charge me $249 installation... which NOBODY charges these days.

Unfortunately based upon my location, it was either CLEARwire or them... CLEAR won.

I know for a fact that Verizon -bleeds- money on FiOS installs. That is the most costly part of their FiOS service. I can't imagine that AT&T's is any different so the install fee isn't really dirty or underhanded. They're simply trying to set an appropriate cost for a service rendered.

Oh, and to the OP - in my experience, it is far more cost effective to do only Internet and TV. Paying for the phone is a waste of money.

You can actually get your home phone number service for free. You use a T-Mobile prepaid to port your home landline to T-Mobile.

Then you port your T-Mobile to Google Voice. Then you use this adapter (~$40) for -100%- free home phone using Google Voice with a standard telephone.

U-Verse? Don't get me started! I've had all sorts of problems with it. Everything from channels freezing, to sound lag, to sound echoing, to remotes not working (non-battery related), to not being able to get certain channels at all from time to time. The list goes on and on. What really grinds my gears is they don't offer NBA League Pass or NFL Sunday Ticket. Sometimes I lose the signal, like when there's a bad storm, but there ISN'T any storm! I would NOT recommend U-Verse.

No one can sell Sunday Ticket except DirecTV.

However, this year is the first year you can get Sunday Ticket over the Internet using a Sony Playstation 3 game console. Same cost, but you have to own a PS3 and have fast Internet access.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I may be reaching out to "TheDude" about which is best internet phone to use. Basically I need to call 1-800 numbers for my work conf calls. That is all I need. I also have a friend that LOVES U-verse a ton and he said to not get the phone.

They are pushing it really hard in my neighborhood as they just ran fiber.

Funny thing too, I said I've never had a problem with Dish Network. Well they just had a HUGE outage on Tuesday and this morning that caused millions to be out all their channels. Weird timing.

I had the same problem 3 weeks ago , but sine they rewired everything it has been perfect. You need to have a tech come check it out ,and check the wiring.

I had At&t on my phone for 30 minutes telling them how bad the cable was,and wouldn't you know it they sent someone out within 30 mins to fix it, thats what I call service. Knock on wood no problems!!

I've had Uverse for a couple of years. They have been much more reliable than what I had (Charter.) They are a few bucks less and when things go amiss, they are pretty quick to throw some cash at you.

You can save a few more bucks if you can get someone to refer you- like $25 each for cable and internet.

Since you have sat. you likely know that you need a box for each set- unless you want to watch the same program on each set.

Also, Uverse appears to promote using a wireless router some. Not an issue for me at all, but something to remember.

I've been happy and no reason for me to go elsewhere although I keep peaking at the satellite option. I don't have the verizon option or I would really explore them- just to see.

One issue that I have had- which still shows occasionally, but much much less is sound drops when listening in 5.1 surround. If you go stereo, you won't hear it at all. It's not everywhere but was a software issue. They have thrown some bucks and upgrades along the way to keep me on. But again, it's almost totally gone, so they have improved it.

Also, recording 3HD shows at once is a pretty sweet option- but can add on inches to ones waste. Of course one could watch em while on a treadmill.

That's true, but some cable providers allow you to get it from DirecTV, through their cable, but ATT will not.

The service itself has been good here in Northern California. My only complaint was that when we moved, they screwed up the installation appointment (scheduled for 10:00 AM and no show until 2:30 PM and finished the job at 9:30 PM, yes 9:30 PM on a Friday night). I had to make several calls to their supervisor on duty, who understood my plight (no internet access for 3 days).

Their customer service is pretty good - very technical, accessible and courteous.

Truer words have never been posted.

There are dozens of ways to accomplish it and you posted a good one.

For me, it's a free Google Voice "home" number that sends voicemail transcripts to my phone and my wife's. We could have it ring a phone but don't, since folks we want to talk to have our cellphone numbers as primary.

DirecTV has an exclusive contract until 2015.

DirecTV will allow you to get NFL Sunday Ticket without a DirecTV subscription, if you can prove you are unable to subscribe to DirecTV.

(no clear view, apartment complex or HOA does not allow dishes etc)

It's $350 and streams through your Internet connection.

Even though I live in a south suburb of Chicago AT&T's U-verse is not available on my side of the street. It is available on the other side of the street(Western ave.) though so who knows when it might become available???

I truly have no idea, but they likely need to run optics to you for you to get service. I would expect that they may do that once subscriber sign ups drop off. I don't know why they are related, but the tech that visited me said that won't expand here until that happens. They are barely keeping up with the installs they have now. That may be ATT's reason, but why not just hire more install techs?
