This movie was based on the real-life Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash from New York, NY to Redondo Beach, California.

founders of the Polish Racing Drivers of America (left to right) Brad Niemcek, Tony
Adamowicz and Oscar Koveleski, who made the run in a specially fitted Chevrolet van.
