Cape Cod Fog on PCL Beware

Hi Guys

I polished a scratch out of a PCL using cape cod on a Q tip and while it removed the scratch it also left very fine brush marks on the PCL which are only visible in certain light which creates a foggy effect on the PCL so to speak .

So unless anyone can advise me where I went wrong then I will not be using cape cod again and I would also warn anyone else of the perils of using it on PCLs.

What did you use to wipe off the residue after using the cape cod Gary?

If it was dirty, even just a little, it could have been the cloth that left the fine marks.

Usually, I have excellent results with cape cod, although I don't use it often.
But a clean soft cloth is paramount to buff the residue out.

Another possible could be the Q-tip. If this rubbed through or pushed off the cape cod cloth and rubbed the metal, this would also be a possible cause!

Always use a fresh cloth if you're after a a mirror-polished surface, you never know what abrasive substances from previous use are lurking on the pad.

Even if the cloth was brand new & I was switching from rubbing case/etc to PCL's I'd still use use a fresh cloth

You probably did not buff it long enough. Happened to me on my first attempt and had white fade micro scratches when viewed closely under the light. It turned out I didn't polish/buff it long enough after I seek advice here. Also don't use a Q-tip use a microfiber clothe to buff out after you get the cape cod juice on the surface to be polished.

I agree sounds like the Q tip or the cloth... I have used cape cod on a few occasions and never had anything but great results. Perhaps give it another try
