Started the HCG diet...
I don't know if anyone has heard of HCG but I've just started this diet. I knw 6 people that have lost 20+ pounds and 2 of them have lost 50+. I'm going to try to lose 35-40 before my wedding next summer. It's really an amazing diet. Only 500 calories a day. You get 2 protiens a day, 2 vegetables, 2 fruits a day. The servings are 3.5 oz each. You also take HCG drops 4 or 5 times a day. This diet isn't made to work out on since the calories are so limited. It's so picky with oils I can't even use the body wash I usually use. Anyway I hope to only have to be on the strict part of the diet for a month and then can switch to the maintenance part. I'll let everyone know how it goes. If anyone is interested let me know and I can give you some info on the diet. Thanks

One of my teammates here at work did that about a year ago and lost almost 40 lbs in a matter of weeks.
I for one am a bit scared of anything that makes you drop that much weight in such a short time, it cannot possibly be healthy for you. My co-worker is still alive and ticking tough so that's good! :-) He did gain most of the weight back though as that diet is really just a massive drop but not a permanent solution. Keep a balanced diet after the loss and complement it with some work out routines and you should be able to keep the weight off.

can a body function on 500 calories a day ,,,, well for any length of time , sounds drastic , hope you have been checked by your gp before you start ,

Cut calories to a reasonable level, 1500-2000/day, limit fats/oils, limit excess sugar, go to the gym every other day. Commit to 3x/wk no matter what. 20 min of hard cardio, hard will change over time. 30 min of alternating circuit weight training. 5 minutes stretching/cool down.
In a few months, you will really be a changed man. New eating habits, new energy level, new drive to stay healthy, new life! Don't starve yourself for a quick fix fad diet with bogus claims and one off success stories, make a real life change. For yourself, your fiancé, and your future kids.

If I splurge one day then I automatically turn to more fruit and veg the next to balance it out. Just 250 calories a day overeating would see me 40lbs overweight in one year. As it is I'm smack in the middle of the healthy weight zone just because I know about that simple overeating fact. No need to starve yourself and adopt the diet of the moment. Just don't overeat for 9 months and you'll lose 30lbs+.
