JLC Amvox2 or PP 5065 Aqua?

Hey guys, Im debating between a BNIB JLC Amvox2 192.t4.50 or a preowned PP 5065a Aquanaut.
Both are about the same price... which would you guys pick? I like them both, and cant buy both.
Thanks

Mike,
I'd go JLC as it's larger than the 5065a. I'm also not keen about rubber on a PP.

For me its the Aquanaut and its not even close. I like rubber straps and am particularly fond of aquanauts and royal oaks though.

If I can wear it, I prefer JLC looks much much better ..... to own it Patek for investment only .

Mike... I like the Rubber on the PP, plus, it would not be my dress watch.

I like both for diff reasons... Resale is deff an issue, as I don't always keep my watches for a long time how are JLC on resale? I wouldn't be buying at retail. As for the PP, being preowned and quite popular, it's prolly done depreciating.

JLC on resale- awful from my experience. Nice watches but you will take a big hit no matter what anyone tells you- I promise you so. Go with the PP IMHO.

Make sure you try them on, while the PP 5065 appealed to me in pictures it looked like a watch from the 80s on my wrist and decided it wasn't for me.

Perhaps it will not be your dress watch but I think the PP looks better than the JLC. To be honest, I think the JLC looks a bit too toy-ish while the PP will also look good as an "almost fancy" piece (not to mention I prefer the PP's rubber band too).

Living in Buffalo, I don't have the Pleasure of walking into a shop that has PP, or AP or JLC... I have to buy these blind.
As for the JLC, they are good watches and the movement inside should be pretty top notch, correct?

The 5065 is too small, you need to get the 5167 if you go the PP route.

As Ken says, the resell on the JLC is pretty bad.

As choices they are vastly different, personally I find the Amvox a bit too busy and cluttered. I had the PP 5167 but it didn't work me - too akward to be a dress watch, esp on a rubber strap, and not tough enough to be a sport watch. It is a watch that is neither here nir there. Having said that, the movement and finish is just beautiful.

It all depends on what you want.

PP: 38mm case, rubber strap (bracelet would be a better option albeit pricey), finishing, movement, resale value

JLC: 43.7mm case, multiple strap options, good finishing, movement

I'd honestly get both used to protect resale value. Both pop up somewhat regularly on several watch forums. My vote is JLC from a value proposition (and I like PPs).

Watches are so personal so here's another personal opinion.
Definitely buy used on both.

For me the PP is dated,I don't think PP made great watches from Gerald Genta's design work. IMO AP did a better job with the RO. But still not to my taste.
Also from a movement POV I would be less keen on the slow beat PP movement and would favor, by a fair margin, the movement in the JLC.
Overall in absolute terms the JLC has to be a much better watch.
But if you love it, you have to buy the PP.

Thanks all... I do prefer the sportier look of the JLC, so I believe that'll be my choice
Thanks everyone for the help and thoughts!

Did you try them on the wrist?
In person, I did not like the PP. Just as an investment, maybe.

The thinness of PP models is unappealing to many buyers who are used to thicker watches like Rolex Subs or AP ROOs. I think that's one of the reasons why PP has been coming out with bigger models like the 5980 or 5726 Nautiluses.

I personal think the thinness is one of the appealing things about Patek. It just flies under the radar so well.

For the life of me I don't understand the appeal of the Aquanaut... The Nautilus, absolutely. But the Aqua just looks tacky, cheezy, unsophisticated, etc.

If you're gonna get a PP, get some complications. The JLC is much more value for the money here.
