What can you tell me about this car if you have owned one or driven one ?

I've owned a couple M series cars. M5 is a great performing car. If you have never owned a M series car you must know that upkeep can be pretty expensive. If expensive repairs are a deal breaker for you, you can always look at a 540 instead.

I've not had a M series BMW but I did own a twin turbo 2005 model 535d with nearly 300bhp and 550pound torque as standard.

0-62 in 5.9 seconds and 35 mpg. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

Why did you sell it... ?? Its one of the ultimate turbodiesel engines on the planet ... BRUTAL !!!

Yes, my buddy, Tommy has an 03 M5 in blue. It's sickeningly FAST and handles like it's glued to the road.

It really is an amazing car

One bad winter was all it took. I live in a hilly district and the rear wheel drive BMW was a joke in the snow.

I sold it after a year, didn't lose too much cash and went for a Mercedes ML320 4x4 instead which I still have.

My business partner owned a 2003... Great car - fast... But shifting all day isnt fun if its a daily driver...

I don't have an M5, but I have the smaller M3, and it's an 06. All I can say about the car is that it's an absolute joy to drive.

Plus it's a BMW so it will have a lot of the nice luxurious accoutrements.

I heard someone mention having to shift a lot. Totally true, and if you're not into driving manual then naturally avoid this car, but on long commutes you don't even notice. I don't have this problem because the SMG transmission in my M3 is clutchless, AND also has a mode you can engage if you want the car to shift for you all together. Pretty sexy.

Gas will absolutely punish you, even if you drive responsibly.

Maintenance can get pricey, but if you go in for regular service you'll avoid getting stuck hard. I'd try to maybe get one that's a little newer, but even at that age as long as you're good to it on regular maintenance it should hold up really well.

You will love this car.

Thanks for all the help. I picked up a 2000-2001 M5. Mint condition, clean car fax, clean body and mechanical. Very Fast car but it is my fun car, I believe they only come in manual the gas is brutal cause real life driving is 11mpg city and 17mpg highway. My everyday car is still a 98 Honda Accord automatic 4 door.
