Hey guys I have a rare opportunity to purchase the gorgeous 18kt 16808 circa 1980 in very good condition. I love vintage watches and lately i loove gooooooooold.
What would you say is a fair price? I am seeing them for around 12-13k online... Is that market price? Thanks! |

An ideal watch would be unpolished with all links and TIGHT band with all original dial bezel and hands. That will catch top dollar. Everything else should decrease from there. I would say 12-15k isn't to far off

Thanks so much. THe one i have my eye on has PCLs... But other than that I think she is a beauty, if it has PCLs does that mean the bracelet isnt original? It is 1980 according to the dealer. Thanks again guys. Im very close to pulling the trigger on this beauty. Ill post some eye candy if I do.

One more question, does this movement have the quick set function for the date ? THe one I am looking at does not have it, I have to manually go through 24 hours for the date to change. THanks.

Also, the one I am looking at does not have the nipple dial. The seller said I can bring it to Rolex and if it is not 100% legit I can take i back for full refund. Were there models made in 1980 without the nipple dial? What about the quick set date movement ? Thanks again and Bernard-that looks great, very classy!

And this movement does not have a quickset date. So it correct that you need to o through 24 hours for a date change. But the second hand does stop (hack) so it quite easy to set the time correctly again. |

16808 is a later watch than the 1680/8 though, runs a Cal 3035 with quickset.

ok. didnt realize there was a difference between the movemenbts in 1680/8 and 16808. Im glad to hear that one of them does not have quickset so it may be original movement. The good part is Im bringing it to ROSC to insure it is legit after i purchase it. (When I can find the time that is). Thanks again for all your help.

16808, may have either a nipple or standard dial
The round white gold edge markers are the service dial replcments, dont be too concerned, I have a 16758 with a service dial and while its not the original nipple, it still looks great.
Nipple dials are not easy to find with correct hands so unless you are prepred to spend big bucks just enjoy the watch, its a great look. benio |

You can't link to a page in your gmail account on a public forum, you need to post it to photobucket or attach it to TRF.

No, you're linking to the files inside your gmail email account, which means they're only visible to you.

You're still trying to link from gmail, it doesn't work like that.
You need to download the image and upload it to a service like photobucket.com
