5513 with spider dial
Hi gang - vintage dealer in my area just came across a 5513 (he believes from the early 70's....I haven't seen it in person yet) and it has the spider dial. Not entirely sure I love it, but going down to take a look at it.
What are the thoughts on the spider dial? He also is looking for around 6K which I think is a little high. |

Not sure if the spider dial defect is as desirable as say a paint defect causing a tropical dial, maybe other collectors here could throw some light onthe desireability of a spider dial? Personally I wouldn't go for a spider dial but that's just me.

I don't see any desirability in a defective dial.
That price seems high. I would keep looking for one in good shape. dave

I have never seen a MATT Spider dial???
Which is what an early 70's 5513 should have...If it's a Gloss Dial then it is certainly not original...Either way his price is WAY to high.... |

the more I look, the less I like. The more I read, the less I like. May save myself the gas money and hold out. Perhaps that birth year (1967) sub will pass my door one day, and then my quest will be complete....for a while.
For the record - picked up a few Nato straps to test out on an old vintage Seiko and I am SOLD! Most comfortable way to wear a watch I have ever experienced! Whatever I get is most defintley going on one..... |

I for one prefer a good clean Matte dial......Spider web dials are ugly, and are probably the
only Vintage Rolex dials that when encountered should be replaced. JMHO. |
