Just a question on Oysterdate dial...
Hi, thank to all that have helped me.
I have noticed that the lettering on most Oysterdate Precision dials looks like image one, where the word 'Rolex' is shorter in length and than the 'oysterdate' script below. But as with image 2, the 'oysterdate' is more closely spaced and falls within the length of the "Rolex' script. Is there a reason for this, a right and a wrong, or just different years, different designs? As always, I appreciate the help. |

I like to say that they are two different versions but I am really not 100 percent sure. I am pretty confident they are two versions though. The vintage experts from this forum will be able to help you out with your question.
Other then that, cheers!!

The watch in the first (top) picture above has been re-dialled.
Firstly, the minute markers go through the coronet at 12 o'clock. Next, the printing of SWISS MADE has been added. It should not have this on it. It should read SWISS - T < 25, and placement should be below the 6 o'clock marker. John. |

John, I think you are right. Read about "Luminous marker" nomenclature here: http://www.oysterinfo.de/de/detailin...asse/index.php

Thanks John, but what is your opinion regarding the second images Rolex and Oysterdate spacing? Why do the 2 differ? I think the second images style isn't as common...

Yes, I have also noticed these two variances.
Both look ok, but I'm not 100% sure. Padi may be able to help more. Hope it helps. John. |
