Further to my "Newbie" post of 6 October: (I'm too new to this forum to figure out how to insert that link here!) a couple questions:

1) Can a GMT 1675, serial 621550 (meaning it was made in 1960) have a 1560 movement as reported to me by the last guy servicing it? All the caliber charts I have seen here and elsewhere show that this watch should have a 1565 movement.

2) Regarding my question about the number 5/27506 in the movement box on my COSC certificate, one article I read somewhere says this is the serial number of the tested movement itself. Is this correct? I haven't found such a serial number on any of the movement pictures I've seen here so far. Guess this would show that Rolex put in the ref and serial number of the watch above the movement box when the movement was returned to them after testing. Regarding you first question.
The movement in the GMT 1675 is a 1565 GMT movement, but probably has a 1560 base plate.
It is just like the 1680 sub, it has a 1575 movement but a 1560 base plate.

1560 = no date
1565 = date
1565 MGT = date and 24h hand

Thanks, Buffy, for this info on the 1560 movement dilema. Very reassuring, as I was wondering if someone in my line of servicers had changed out the movement

There was a typo, the 1680, has a 1575 movement but a 1570 base plate.
The same goes for 157X Family as the 156X.
I read that the 156X came 1959 and the 157X came 1965. So GMT 1675 after 1965 should have the 1575 GMT movement.

Buffy is 10000% correct, the movement is a 1560 but they classify it as 1565 on the 1675 as it has a date function added

I just looked around some more and I read that base plate only had 1560/1570 stamped on it. Maybe Rolex did want a generic part for the watch. I have yet to see a 1565 or 1575 stamp on a movement.

Marcello: Just checked again the number in the movement box of the COSC certificate and it is definitely 5/27506. The same number is on the guarantee.
